Greetings! the US Senate would like to ban vehicle technology linked to foreign adversaries like China, Russia, Iran and North Korea. Legislation in this regard has been referred to the full Senate for a vote. It would seriously limit or prohibit importation of ATN systems to the US with one exception.

The proposed act is focused on connected vehicles. It excludes rail-based connected vehicles, stating "The term “connected vehicle” does not include a vehicle operated only on a rail line.". It thus appears to ban supported self-steering ATN systems but not those where the guideway physically steers the vehicle.

Pratap Sarnaik reviews Thane Metro, Pod Taxi and Ghodbunder Road projects, seeks faster completion

Marashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has directed officials to speed up major infrastructure and civic development projects across Thane, stressing that all works should be completed within fixed timelines while maintaining quality and transparency.

The instructions were issued during a high-level review meeting attended by officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Metro authorities, Public Works Department (PWD), Traffic Police, Forest Department and other government agencies, an official statement said.

Suzuki and Glydways to test personal rapid transit

Suzuki’s investment in Glydways raises the question of how far automotive OEMs will push into public transportation infrastructure Suzuki has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with public transportation developer Thoth Infrastructure and California-based Glydways to examine autonomous personal rapid transit (PRT) for the Sabarmati Multimodal Hub in Ahmedabad, India. The hub is a planned high-speed rail terminal where increasing passenger volumes are expected to drive demand for short-distance electric mobility across the region. Glydways’ image in an urban area Glydways’ PRT system operates compact, mini-car-sized electric vehicles autonomously in dedicated lanes, transporting multiple passengers on demand at lower infrastructure costs than traditional public transportation options. Glydways is a Suzuki investment company with which the OEM has a strategic cooperation agreement; Thoth Infrastructure, headquartered in Delhi, brings its transit-oriented development expertise and joins the MOU as the local project partner.
