Greetings! the Mumbai Bandra-Kurla PRT Project is wise to be appointing an independent engineer to monitor construction quality. However, construction is a daily practice. PRT operations are not. No PRT system in public service today serves more than three stations with 35 vehicles. What happens when you have over 20 stations and hundreds of vehicles? How do you avoid bottlenecks, handle crowded stations and promote ridesharing? What unforeseen problems are likely to arise? It would seem wise to also appoint independent experts with proven PRT-specific simulation tools to investigate operations.

Mumbai Pod Taxi Network Could Reach Thane


Mumbai’s proposed pod taxi system could become a wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region transport network, with the state government indicating plans to extend the concept from Bandra-Kurla Complex to Thane, Mira-Bhayandar and Navi Mumbai. The proposed expansion signals an attempt to connect major employment and residential centres through additional urban transit capacity, although its success will depend on integration with existing rail, metro and bus systems. The first proposed corridor is centred on BKC, one of Mumbai’s largest commercial districts and an increasingly important regional transport hub. The area is expected to gain further connectivity through major projects, including the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail station. That combination is likely to increase passenger demand and put additional pressure on streets and existing public transport services.

Mumbai: MMRDA To Appoint Independent Engineer To Monitor 8.85-Km Kurla-Bandra POD Taxi Project Construction Quality

MMRDA plans to appoint an independent engineer to monitor construction quality and execution of the 8.85-km Kurla-Bandra POD Taxi project. The AI-powered driverless system will have 22 stations, with Phase-I covering 3.36 km. The ₹21-per-km system is projected to serve 1.09 lakh daily riders by 2031.

BKC's Pod Taxi To Expand To Thane, Mira-Bhayandar, Navi Mumbai, Says Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik


Maharashtra plans to expand the pod taxi system proposed for Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex to Thane, Mira-Bhayandar and Navi Mumbai after its rollout in BKC, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said. The project is part of the state government's efforts to improve transport infrastructure across Mumbai and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Sarnaik said in an interview.

PRT gets a summer makeover ahead of fall semester

Board...hears updates on...personal rapid transit system

Resident Judeth Van Hamm asked the board to consider the town’s participation in a pilot project, at no expense to Hull, of the JPod personal rapid transit system, extending along the George Washington Boulevard right-of-way from Jake’s to the Paragon Carousel.

‘Pod taxi material’ dumped in BKC park


The Urban Plaza and Park at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), a public space developed with taxpayers’ money, has become the centre of a fresh controversy after it was barricaded, further restricting public access.


Fuming residents of Bandra East said the barricading has robbed them of one of the few open recreational spaces in the city’s premier business district.
