Meet Neyder Fernandez

Born and raised in Lowell, Neyder Fernandez is a proud member of the city’s public schools, where he developed a deep connection to his community and a passion for advocacy. He attended Lowell High School, where he learned to navigate diverse environments, build relationships, and speak up for meaningful change.

Through his experiences as a student leader, Neyder helped lead initiatives that promoted equity and inclusion, including efforts to make school policies more culturally responsive. These moments shaped his belief in the power of community, collaboration, and working within systems to create lasting impact.

After graduating, Neyder went on to study political science at UMass Lowell, where he served as student body president and vice chair of the Boston Intercollegiate Government. Today, he is a Community School Manager at the Butler Middle School, where he works with students, families, and partners to expand access to resources, strengthen opportunities, and empower the next generation in Lowell.

While this event is a special opportunity for Lowell High alumni to reconnect with classmates, all friends of Lowell Public Schools are warmly welcome — whether you’re an alum, a family member, a community supporter, or someone who simply believes in the future of Lowell’s students. Come reconnect, explore, and see how today’s students are building the next chapter of Lowell’s story.

Tours of the new building will depart every 20 minutes and include stops at exciting new spaces such as:

• The Student Career Center
• The Riddick Athletic Center & Weight Rooms
• Classrooms & Labs
• The Little Theater
• Commercial Kitchen Learning Space & Courtyard Café
• LHS 1826 School Store



This is a pay-what-you-can event, but we hope you’ll consider making a donation to the Lowell Schools Fund to support students and educators for generations to come.

On Saturday, October 17th from 6-10pm the Lowell High School Class of 1976 is hosting their 50th class reunion at the Longmeadow Country Club.

We’re excited to help spread the word as your fellow alumni come together and organize an unforgettable evening. Whether you’re local or across the country, now’s the time to start making plans, and encouraging your friends to do the same!

From mentors, advisors, guest speakers, tutors and more, Lowell High Alumni are valuable resources for current students. The Lowell High Alumni Association is a collaboration between Project LEARN and the Lowell Public School district. The mission of the Alumni Association is to help alumni connect with each other, to engage with the school, community and to inspire future generations of Lowell High students through mentoring, advising and tutoring. We invite alumni to connect and find ways to work on new and existing programs within the schools to better the academics and the lives of all Lowell Public School students.
