Spread the word about our Teens Sewing Class – conveniently scheduled after-school on two Thursdays in June. Teens will have fun embellishing a T-shirt while learning hand stitching and applique techniques. This could be the first step to future classes involving machine sewing, and quilting! We've moved on from cats and are focusing this week on owl themed fabric. Did you know there is no consistent mythology about owls? Some cultures revere them as symbols of wisdom, intelligence, and foresight while others view them as dark omens. For example, the Ainu people of Japan historically viewed the owl as a protective, divine spirit while in Celtic Mythology the owl is deeply embedded in the Mabinogi, notably through the legend of Blodeuwedd, who was magically created from flowers. I proposed a Blodeuwedd table runner but Norine dismissed my idea - as usual! Feel free to contact her and demand my ideas be given the respect they deserve. As I think about it, my ideas are probably being given all the attention they deserve. But thanks anyway.
