FAIRFAX, VA – Beginning tonight, Tuesday, May 6, and continuing nightly through Friday, May 9, multiple ramps to and from northbound I-495 (Capital Beltway Inner Loop) at the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP), Georgetown Pike, and Dulles Corridor Interchanges will be closed for 495 NEXT crews to perform paving and striping work in preparation for the Beltway traffic shift planned for Friday night, May 9.
The following ramps will be closed and detoured from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, May 6-9:
Northbound I-495 ramp to GWMP (Exit 43). Detour:
- Continue on northbound I-495 into Maryland and take Exit 41 for Clara Barton Parkway
- Stay left for westbound Clara Barton Parkway
- Take the exit to Carderock. Turn left at stop sign, followed by another left turn to merge back onto eastbound Clara Barton Parkway
- Continue on eastbound Clara Barton Parkway and exit and merge onto southbound I-495 toward Virginia
- Take Exit 43 for George Washington Memorial Parkway
Northbound I-495 ramp to Georgetown Pike (Exit 44). Detour:
- From northbound I-495, take the earlier exit south of the Dulles Corridor Interchange, Exit 46B for northbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road
- Continue northbound on Route 123/Chain Bridge Road to the Georgetown Pike interchange
East- and westbound Georgetown Pike ramp to northbound I-495. Detour:
- Exit Georgetown Pike to southbound I-495
- Take southbound I-495 to Exit 46B for northbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road
- Follow Route 123/Chain Bridge Road to the right exit ramp for northbound I-495
Eastbound Dulles Toll Road/Airport Access Highway (Route 267) ramp to northbound I-495 (Exit 18B). Detour:
- Take Exit 18A to southbound I-495
- Take southbound I-495 to Exit 46B for northbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road

Continue in ramp-lane and immediately merge onto northbound I-495
All work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if necessary. Drivers are urged to use caution and expect potential delays if traveling through this area.
