Dinner at the Gardens
NEW IBERIA, La. ---Jefferson Island Rip Van Winkle Gardens is opening its doors and inviting you for a special night time evening of dining at Café Jefferson.
 
On Thursday, July 26 and Thursday August 23, 2018 grab your family and friends for this unique dining opportunity under the stars by Lake Peigneur. Seating times will be 6 – 7:30 p.m. and 8 – 9:30 p.m.
 
Seafood dishes are the café’s specialty, including bisques, gumbos, étouffée, sauce piquante and homemade gourmet desserts. The glassed-in porch, nestled in a grove of ancient live oaks, offers a breath-taking view of the gardens and Lake Peigneur.
 
To work up your appetite, you can take a stroll through approximately 15 acres of semi-tropical gardens nestled among 350 year old oak trees, and view birds at Rip’s Rookery, located at the corner of Rip Van Winkle and Jefferson Island Roads. The nesting and rearing period is from March through June or July, depending on the weather.
 
Café Jefferson is usually only open for lunch from 11 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. on weekdays and until 3 p.m. on weekends.
