SR-247 Roadway Improvement

SAN BERNARDINO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues work on a $21.9 M pavement rehabilitation and shoulder widening project on State Route 247 (SR-247). This work is funded through Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017


Constructions signs are now placed throughout the project area, as well as clearing in shoulder areas and placement of high visibility fencing for environmental protections. Work operations will take place near Yucca Valley from the State Route 62 Junction to Gin Road. Project work is expected to be completed by fall 2025. 


What to Expect: Expect delays as traffic control will be located at various locations. Approximate flagging wait times per side are expected to be 20 min. Plan-ahead and please be mindful of work area signage as law enforcement will enforce applicable laws and regulations. Nighttime shoulder work. Please proceed cautiously as work vehicles and crews may move in and out of shoulder areas for backfill operations. 


Week of August 10th, nightly paving operations continue Sunday to Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. This work activities will begin at northbound SR-247 near Gleason Rd with lane closure and flagging operations. Friday and Saturday night work may occasionally be required from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

 

All work is dependent on contractor receiving proper materials for each job function. It can be changed or canceled at any time. All work is weather permitting.


Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly to avoid potential delays.
