It is with great sorrow, disbelief and a breaking heart that we have had to say goodbye to our dearest, sweet, bubbly, bouncy, forever loving and affectionate Nikolai Schatz 😭💔
It has been over a month now, and we are only just now able to share with our Alpen Schatz fans this devastating news, as his sudden passing has been a terrible blow and shock to us all.
He passed only days after a very quick decline on Easter Sunday, ending two days later…and then suddenly he was gone. The dreaded cancer which he had so stoically hid. A huge piece of our heart is now missing 💔😢😭😭😭
Our dearest Nikolai gave such immense love from the very start, not only to his family, but to tens of thousands of Alpen Schatz visitors and fans from all over the world in the 6 short years of his life. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by many.

Spending half of his life in the remote mountains surrounding Telluride, Colorado and the second half of his life in the rolling green hills and sandy beaches of pastoral England, Nikolai was not only an ambassador for the Bernese Breed but a beloved Alpen Schatzi, being loved, hugged and petted by all those who encountered him. He was the poster child of many an Alpen Schatz newsletter, heading up the front liner with his infectious smile, deep brown eyes and handsome, heart warming presence.
He will be greatly missed by all, not to mention his little brother, Buckley, who looked up to him in every way.
