ORIGAMI CRANES PROJECT

If you are watching the news, you may be wondering how we can find peace in a world so full of turmoil.

This is an excellent question to ponder during Lent – through quiet prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Meditation and stillness aren’t for everyone. Some of us enjoy active prayer – by walking, knitting, painting, (even chores) – where the focus is on discerning God’s will.

This year at Easter, along with our traditional lilies, we’d like to fill the sanctuary with origami cranes – the International Symbol of Peace.  (Ask me for the story… It is a great story of resilience and hope!)
This project is open to anyone who has an interest in trying something new during Lent. It can be done at church or at home; age is no limitation!

We will provide the paper and instructions; we can also sit and fold a crane together to learn the process. As you make your crane, feel free to write a prayer on the paper. It’s a lovely thought to see your prayer “flying” to God at Easter.

Fold one for a teacher, or a nurse, or a pastor, or police person…
Fold one in honor of the children of Ukraine, or Russia, or right here at home.
Fold one for the sick or aged, or for newborn innocence.
Fold one and take that moment to pray for understanding of God’s will, for hope, for peace.

Our cranes will remain in the church until after Pentecost. Then they will be available to give away to anyone in need of a reminder of God’s love, hope and peace.

The materials will be available at church. I am also available for questions or assistance. On Saturdays through Lent, I am happy to spend time at church to sit and fold with you. Please get in contact with me to set up a time that works for you.

Your Next Level Innovations Team has completed Nimmo’s Breakthrough Prayer! After much prayer and care, and discernment, we have come up with a prayer that we feel personalizes our hopes and desires as we pray to God, that he may lead us in our journey to the next level as a church committed to making Disciples of Jesus Christ.
Please keep this prayer in your hearts and join us in praying it at breakfast and dinner time, and then listen, watch and wait as exciting things begin to happen at Nimmo.

If you have any questions, please contact any member of our team: Jack Calhoun, John Folsom, Marie Grindle, Melody Jeffrey, Robin Nelson, Mary Ann Schmidt or Pastor Amanda.
BEGINS SUNDAY, MARCH 27th!
We are excited to offer confirmation classes this spring and to celebrate confirmation during all of our worship services on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

In our denomination we baptize infants and the parents take the baptismal vows for the children. In confirmation, the person takes the baptismal vows for themselves! Confirmation class is open to any person 6th-12th grade.

Confirmation classes will take place from 4 to 5pm on Sundays at Nimmo United Methodist Church on March 27th, April 3rd & 24th, May 1st, 15th, & 22nd. We will also have a day of service at some point and one or two parent meetings. This dates and times will be shared closer to the start of confirmation.
