Los Angeles – The Nisei Week Foundation selected 25-year old Kimi Look of Torrance as the 2025 Nisei Week Queen at the 2025 Nisei Week Queen Coronation event in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles on August 9, 2025.

Japanese American Organizations-sponsored seven candidates vied for the title in Aratani Theatre with several hundred audiences. The programs included kimono presentation, Japanese dance, self-introduction, and question and answer session.

Kimi Look was born in Berkeley, California, and graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, and a minor in biology. She currently works as a rehabilitation technician at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital and as a medical assistant at Atelier Health, a concierge cardiology practice.

Upon official coronation on August 9, the 2025 Nisei Week Queen and Court represent the Nisei Week Foundation at this year’s 83rd Nisei Week Japanese Festival and other community events locally and nationally throughout the year.

Help to Keep Cultural News in digital platform by Your Donation

To sustain newsroom operation, Cultural News needs $30,000 annually

As you may know, I use Google Gemini every day. This incredible Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool answers my questions in English and Japanese, depending on the language I use.

AIs are becoming more intelligent every day, and I was recently amazed when I asked about Japanese cultural events in Los Angeles. The AI provided me with sources from Cultural News, highlighting the importance of integrating digital information about Japanese cultural events with AI.

This integration is becoming indispensable in today's world. To continue this vital work, we have set a fundraising goal of $30,000. Your generous donation will help us keep Cultural News on a digital platform, ensuring that valuable information about Japanese culture remains accessible to everyone.
