You can't rush an important decision and there is probably no more significant decision a city council can make than selecting a city administrator.
The Nixa City Council have already reviewed over 45 applications for the City Administrator position and we continue to search for the right person to lead our community into our next era of growth.
What are we looking for? We want someone who has a progressive vision and innovative ideas. We want someone who can exemplify our motto "Neighbors Committed to an Exceptional Quality of Life." We also are looking for someone with experience in city management and economic development. We want a leader who is an effective communicator, influencer, and team collaborator. We want someone who is dedicated to public service and who can push an already exceptional team to a whole new level.
We are blessed to have a talented, passionate, and experienced management team directing each of the city's departments, supported by a staff which is dedicated to a high quality of customer service. The right candidate will be someone who can work collaboratively with that team. They will also need to be a liaison to various community partners to work alongside of and coordinate efforts across agencies and organizations.
As you can see, our expectations are high. We thank Brian Bingle, our previous city administrator who retired in fall of 2017, for helping set that high standard. We are also extremely proud of the stellar leadership of Interim City Administrator Doug Colvin, who wishes to continue in his capacity as Director of Nixa Utilities and Public Works. As Mayor, I feel I can speak for the entire city council when I say that we feel no pressure to rush our selection process. We have to get this right.
This is why council have chosen to reopen the position to applications. We live in an exceptional community, and we will settle for nothing less than an exceptional leader. In the meantime, we appreciate the continued work of Doug Colvin and the rest of the city's leadership team to keep the city running at a high level during this process.
Sincerely,
Mayor Steele

The summer heat seems to bring out door-to-door solicitors every year. City Hall has been made aware that there are already some unlicensed solicitors going door-to-door.
If someone comes to your door, ask them if they have a solicitor's license. All solicitors are required to obtain a solicitor's license through City Hall prior to going door-to-door. Requirements and hours allowed for solicitation can be found on the
Solicitor's License Information page
.
Solicitation hours are 10am-6pm M-F and Noon-6pm on Saturdays. Solicitation is not allowed on Sundays. The license process includes a background check to help protect our community. If you see a solicitor without a license or soliciting outside of approved hours, please call Nixa Police (24/7) at 417-582-1030 or Nixa City Hall (during regular business hours), 417-725-3785.

Hours:
Mon-Thur 8:30am-8pm

In April, Utility Account Specialist Supervisor Deanna Allen and Assistant Supervisor of Utility Billing Kellie Davis both completed the Missouri Public Utility Alliance's Certification of Supervisory Leadership. The course provides training and coaching for utility supervisors in leading others, effective problem solving, and decision making, among other skills. The city prioritizes such trainings for our staff so that we can provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a positive work environment.
