No Meeting in JULY

This is just a reminder that there is no Access & Issues Group in July. We will pick back up on August 9 and will hear from members of the Lakeville School Board, who will give us an update on items that include a recap of 2024-25, legislative changes and the upcoming school year.

We covered some ground again this week talking about mis-classification of workers, new overtime laws, non-compete regulations at state and federal level, and a quick highlight of cannabis. Kare 11 news will be doing a live feed from right here in Lakeville as we celebrate our very own Olympian - Regan Smith! Kare 11 will be visiting multiple cities in the state to highlight Olympians - and NO SURPRISE - we want our party to be the best! The high school marching bands will be there and we want to have a huge crowd there when they film our segment. Spread the word and come join us!

NEW - LPD Cadet Program

New program alert!

Lakeville received a grant from the Office of Justice Program to hire a police officer who wants to make a career transition into law enforcement. The program requires candidates to have a two or four-year degree in something other than law enforcement.

Additionally, candidates will earn a salary during training and secure a job with their sponsoring agency once they are licensed.

Cadet Schedule:

• Open for application: July 7-21,2024

• Target start date: September 30, 2024

• Hennepin Tech: October 14,2024-March, 2025

• Transition to full-time officer: March 2025
