Better Balance and Strength?

Falls Prevention Exercise Program

Starts June 22nd

Mondays at 11:00 am

Wednesdays at 12:00 pm

With popular demand, the Heritage Center will begin another section of a no-cost, balance and strength class, designed for older adults. Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance is an evidence-based falls prevention program derived from a martial art. This movement therapy aims at improving postural stability, functional walking, movement coordination, and lower-extremity muscle strength. It has proven to reduce falls by 58% in older adults. The program even helps with some cognitive function.

This hour-long class will be scheduled on Mondays at 11:00 am and Wednesdays at 12:00 pm. Attendance can be in person or on Zoom. Class size is limited, please call Margherita 203-938-9725 to find out more. We have one group underway and another group of participants who have already completed the course. Many students can attest to how effective the program is, how much stronger they are and their boost in confidence when walking (and in general!).

Above all, stay safe, be well!
