Spring is in full gear for MVK, and we are looking forward to a fun summer for our youth. Got tickets? If you plan on traveling, please think of MVK when you can't use your tickets.

550 CHEER ON ATLANTA UNITED

In March, Atlanta United generously shared 550 tickets and we distributed to ecstatic youth and their families. Recipient partners included 17 groups including Soccer in the Streets, Kids with Goals FC, Agape Youth & Family Center and Drew Charter School.

"Both of my children play soccer, so being able to watch the game live at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was special for them. Moments like these truly help build their love for the sport."

-- Cassandra, mom of a 6- & 8-year-old

BROADWAY STAR SURPRISES TEENS

It was one thing for South Atlanta High School students to get tickets to see MJ The Musical. It was a whole other level of wow when the star of the show - MJ himself! - boarded their bus. Jordan Markus hugged David Kote, the students' Director of Theatre Arts, who happens to be Jordan's former teacher, too. Jordan told the students: "This man right here taught me the foundation of what it meant to be up on that stage 8 times a week. Every day in school we were working harder and harder and harder to be able to perform an authentic show like this." What an inspirational experience for these youth to witness all that is possible!

"Meeting Jordan (MJ) showed me that people who are passionate about acting in high school are able to persevere with the right people in the circle encouraging them." -- Sariya, Class of 2027

HURRAY FOR HARRY POTTER

The wizardly stars aligned when Aria, a fifth grader at West Manor Elementary was named Atlanta Public Schools' February Student of the Month. When MVK got wind that Aria is a huge Harry Potter fan, we thought it fitting to reward her with tickets to Broadway in Atlanta's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Aria was just one of 200 MVK guests bedazzled by the spectacular special effects.

DONOR SPOTLIGHT: KNOX PORTER

"As a public school teacher for 30 years, I think that the motivation of tickets given to a family and a child from underserved communities is fantastic positive reinforcement, which these students need. Going to a play, athletic event, a museum, and, yes, to Georgia State football, helps tunnel vision. It's important for students from underserved communities to actually come on a college campus and see that college is an option for them." -- Knox Porter, Georgia State University alum and MVK donor who has coordinated the donation of GSU football & basketball tickets .

TEENS HELPING TEENS

"The girls absolutely loved the bags! They felt so special and loved." -- Dion Stokes, Community Teen Coalition Upward Bound Director

MVK teamed up with National Charity League Sandy Springs teens to assemble 60 hygiene kits in March. The sparkly bags, filled with everything from a cozy blanket to period products, deodorant and dental kits, were shared with teen girls going on a retreat with Community Teen Coalition, Inc., a nonprofit that empowers youth with academic, social, and career readiness skills. Thank you to the LuluMa Foundation for the grant that made these gifts possible.

MVK BOARD: COMINGS AND GOINGS

We extend our sincere thanks to Michael Luscher, who rolled off the board this spring after eight years of service. Michael was an original board member, joining the board at its inception and helping to shape its early growth. As founder and CEO of POINT3, he brought two decades of experience in the sports industry and played a key role in expanding partnerships with Atlanta's sports community. Thousands of youth benefited from access to tickets and sports equipment including uniforms, sweatshirts and socks. Michael's wife, Karen, co-chaired the MVK gala in 2024. We thank the Luscher family for their lasting contributions.

We are excited to welcome Jordan Greenberg to the MVK Board of Directors. Jordan is an advisor with Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management and was an Academic All-American and captain of the Stanford Men's Swimming & Diving Team. Jordan brings a strong background in leadership, strategic thinking and relationship building. "Live events, especially music and theatre, have brought me so much joy and learning in my life," says Jordan. "I joined the MVK board so more kids in Atlanta can benefit in the same way." We look forward to the perspective and energy that he will bring to MVK as we continue to grow our impact.
