No Empty Word:

Relentless Pursuit

A Study on Hosea

Let's Feast!

In the spring of 2021, the women of Clemson Presbyterian Church were weary. Like many of you, the lingering days of COVID had worn us down as we had also been walking through some difficult days in our church family. We needed to be nourished as we journeyed with Jesus. So, I invited the women to come (3 feet apart with masks on and small groups meeting outside) and feast on God’s Word, the book of Hosea. I wasn’t sure who would come, and I questioned the menu, but they came. We were hungry, and God fed us with His living, enduring Word. We were nourished and changed. We were transformed as we saw our faithful Bridegroom and His deep love for us, His unlikely, unfaithful Bride.

Over the past several weeks, I have heard about and anticipated that many of you will gather for weeks over the summer to feast upon God’s Word. The menu has been decided, Hosea. The table has been set to create a space for relationships. I envision deep conversations and moments of quietness as you savor each bite. Some morsels will be tasty, and others will be difficult to swallow, but I am confident you will be fed because His Word never returns void. How I wish we could sit at the table together! Know that I have said a blessing over these meals. I have thanked the Lord for His Word, particularly the truths provided in the book of Hosea.  I have asked Him to nourish your souls and to strengthen and sustain the Church, His Bride. It is my prayer that you will fall more deeply in love with your Bridegroom and forever be encouraged by His relentless pursuit of you.

“For it is no empty word for you, but your very life.”

Deuteronomy 32:47

Enjoy the feast!

Getting to Know Paula Miles

You can read Paula's bio on the website, but we wanted you to know some fun facts about her! Each week we will have a new question for Paula to answer. Let us know if you have any questions, and maybe your question will be chosen! Email kwargo@pcanet.org

I asked Paula to tell us about her favorite holiday for a feast and then to tell us about her favorite foods!

Christmas is probably my favorite holiday to eat, but it is more about the people and traditions that accompany the food...like our Christmas Eve French toast breakfast to celebrate my youngest daughter's birthday or our steak and twice-baked potato meal as we prepare to exchange gifts.

Coffee is definitely my favorite beverage. In the morning I drink several cups with just a little steamed milk. Mid-afternoon my drink of choice right now is a Honey Almondmilk Flat White.

I love fine dining with my husband but we very rarely do so because it makes it more special. Sundays after worship we usually go with my son and his wife to lunch, most often to our favorite local Mexican restaurant Panchos. I love this part of my week—mostly about the people.

Anything chocolate or ice cream is my favorite sweet treat.
