No Lunches are Free, Mayor Mobolade Provides Issue Updates, Polisville Initiative Kicks Off with Mandates, and More!

Here are some of the stories we are following this week. Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for up-to-the-minute news.

  • Denver will cut taxpayer-funded recreation center hours in order to use that money to support the massive influx of illegal immigrants.

  • One recent news report indicated that illegal immigrants were being bussed to Canon City from Denver. These reports appear to be false, but one local news outlet is investigating.

  • Denver Mayor Mike Johnston plans to close four illegal immigrant shelters in his sanctuary city. He argues this will save the city $60 million. We wonder where these illegal immigrants will go after the closures.

  • Per Mayor Mobolade’s request, the City of Colorado Springs has created a Migrant Response Framework in case an influx of illegal immigrants arrives from Denver.

  • Mayor Mobolade also held a press conference to address a KRDO news story about Olympic teams moving out of Colorado Springs, which suggested the entire Olympic organization may be leaving for greener pastures.

  • The illegal immigration issue is becoming such a problem, even Governor Jared Polis is pretending to care. Some, however, place a part of the blame at his feet.

  • The more the plans fail, the more the planners plan.  The taxpayer-funded school lunches for all program voted into law in 2022 is feeding far more children than anticipated, which is producing a budget shortfall. Guess what happens next?

  • Here come the Polisvilles. A proposed new law would force cities to build residential density near transit lines. This is all part of Governor Polis’ master plan to micromanage how you live and travel, as if we were his personal ant farm. We bet $100 he won’t live in one of his planned communities.

  • Colorado Springs City Council has approved a large “affordable housing” apartment complex in Pine Creek. This approval comes after hours of passionate, well-reasoned arguments against the development by residents of Pine Creek. We are truly Apartment City USA.

  • Colorado State Government has overhauled its 2021 Greenhouse Gas Pollution Roadmap to be even more intrusive and regulatory. The ratchet only turns one way, and the ultimate target is your individual liberty.

  • Also in anti-automobile and anti-personal choice news this week, the legislature wants you to pay more to register a larger vehicle. This punitive tax, which they call a “fee”, would go toward building pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, which is the transportation method the authoritarians under the Golden Dome prefer for you. This is in no way a proper function of government. We wonder how many of these authoritarians walk or bicycle when it’s 12 degrees outside.

  • The City of Aurora, Colorado has decided they will not directly give taxpayer money to illegal immigrants. Taxpayer-funded nonprofits will still serve the illegal immigrant population, however.

  • If you live in Colorado Springs, you may see large increases in your homeowner’s insurance. Severe storms and wildfire risk are cited as drivers for this increase.

  • Colorado Senate Democrats are pursuing a bill that would further erode transparency. Currently, if more than 2 elected officials communicate by electronic means, it’s considered a public meeting, and subject to public scrutiny. This law would change that. As usual, they have only their interest in mind, not yours.

  • The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is very busy micromanaging your life. Because of that, they are slow at fixing the potholes they are responsible for filling.

  • If you would like to help support us in our mission as government watchdogs by becoming a Newsletter Sponsor, we are offering two sponsorships for each weekly newsletter, at the nominal cost of $100 each. Funds raised from these sponsorship opportunities will help us to keep looking out for taxpayers.

Here are some upcoming meetings in the area. We hope you can attend one or more! If there are other public meetings you’d like to see announced here, please drop us a line. We are happy to include them in an upcoming newsletter. These might be government-related, candidate, or elected official meetings. Thanks!
