John 20:11-18
Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.”
At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?" Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary. "She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

Prayer:
Almighty God,
Through Jesus Christ you overcame death
and opened to us the gate of everlasting life.
Grant that we,
who celebrate the day of our Lord’s resurrection,
may, by the renewing of your Spirit
arise from the death of sin to the life of righteousness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

UMW May Baskets
In the past, our UMW has created candy filled May baskets as a group fundraiser for missional giving. This year, we are trying something new! Rather than candy, we have started flower seedlings in the May baskets. A group filled 100 baskets with Marigold seeds, and they have been growing off-site with plenty of sun, so they will be ready to go for May 1.
These baskets are available for pre-order, with payment of $5 to give to friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and more. They are sure to bring a smile to whomever receives one. Look for a member of our UMW in the Narthex before church on the next few Sundays to place your order. A link to the order blank can be found here as well. Baskets The deadline for ordering is April 24th and will need to be picked up on Saturday April 30th, unless arrangements have been made.
Baskets are selling fast!! If you miss out on ordering one (we are very close to the 100 mark), please still consider a $5 donation to the UMW and their support of local missions. A little goes a long way. Thank you!
