Science Olympiad Finishes Third in Berks
Recently, fifteen Wilson High School students participated in the Berks County Science Olympiad competition at Kutztown University. The team is advised by Joe Melograna, Greg Brooks, and Gay Wentzel. The competition included 23 events that challenged students within the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. Wilson High School’s team finished in 3rd place out of all the schools at the competition. This placement is the highest that Wilson has achieved in the last several years. The team will continue to prepare for the regional competition that takes place in mid March. The regional event will include approximately 30 teams from Berks and surrounding counties. Finishing in the top 6 would earn a trip to the state competition in April. Best of luck!

Annual Gift of Love Is A Special Experience for Whitfield Students and Staff
Just before the winter break, Whitfield Elementary School held its 27th Annual Gift of Love program. Students and staff presented food and gift donations to local families in need.
Representatives from 7 local churches and the Berks County Intermediate Unit received the gifts at the assembly and thanked the school.
A special moment in the program was when Whitfield Principal, Ms. Joiner, asked some students what they look forward to during the break. Students shared that they were looking forward to spending time with family. One of the students shared that his sister is in the Army and he thought she wouldn't be home for the holidays. You can imagine his delight when his sister surprised him, entering the room as students and staff cheered! What a special day for our Whitfield family!
