No School - Monday, February 5th

Just a friendly reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, February 5th. This is a scheduled day off for staff professional learning. School employees will be present in the buildings and district office on Monday. You can check out the 2023-24 CRCSD calendar to see the remaining staff learning days for the year when school is not in session.

Tentative Weather Make-Up Dates

Wow, we’ve had quite the winter weather in January, and who knows what February and March will bring. The groundhog did not see his shadow today, which means an early spring! So, we will have to wait and see if his prediction holds true.

With all the snow days we have had already this year, we wanted to let you know that our tentative last day of school for 2023-2024 is now Friday, June 7, 2024, for students. This will be an early release day. By Iowa Law, we must have 1080 instructional contact hours with students each school year. So far, we have lost 41 instructional hours this year, including five cancellations, two early releases, and one delay.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation and thank you for your continued support.

Preschool & Kindergarten Registration Now Open

We are excited to announce that preschool and kindergarten registration for the next school year (2024-2025) is now open! Preschool and kindergarten set the foundation for school success and a lifetime of learning. In fact, did you know that kids who go to a high-quality preschool are 35% less likely to drop out of school, 40% less likely to become a teen parent, and 70% less likely to be arrested for a violent crime?

CRCSD currently offers a variety of options for local families, including 3 and 4-year-old preschool, alternative kindergarten, and traditional kindergarten. Our preschool and kindergarten classrooms provide a safe and nurturing environment where students are embraced, educated, and empowered to be future-ready. Click here to enroll now!

Student Spotlight

From Classroom to CEO: A Roosevelt Student Entrepreneur

Connor Fitzgerald, a 7th grader at Roosevelt Creative Corridor Business Academy, is proving that age is not a barrier when it comes to turning ideas into reality. Not only is he trying to navigate middle school and all that it entails, but he is also navigating the world of business and entrepreneurship, fueled by the knowledge and opportunities magnet schools have provided him.

Connor began his educational journey at Johnson STEAM Academy, where he explored his passion for art, innovation, and project-based learning through the magnet school’s program. The school also sparked his interest in business, engineering, and entrepreneurship and led to his first business venture at the age of 8. He set up a small table in his mom’s cafe to sell his intricately crafted paper snowflakes to patrons for a $1 or a goodwill donation. In a matter of weeks, he had raised $60, a portion of which he donated to a nonprofit. He was hooked from there.
