Building STEPS Snapshot

July 2020
No Summer Melt
Building STEPS students are staying connected and engaged through our virtual Summer Experience, a five-week program designed for career exploration and to build valuable telework and academic skills. Hands-on STEM projects, interacting with STEM professionals, exploring database and spreadsheet software and boosting reading, writing and math skills are just a few activities preparing our students for college and beyond.
Thanks to You, We Met our Goal
We are thrilled to share that Building STEPS met its 20th anniversary goal of raising $100,000! Than ks to so many of you, hundreds of Baltimore City students will earn a college degree as the first step to career success. The video above was featured during our virtual event and was produced by one of our alum, Tamar Smith-Towson University 2015.

Volunteer Spotlight
"I truly appreciate the opportunity to engage and empower Building STEPS scholars through career development workshops. For the past two years, I have been inspired by the extensive efforts of Building STEPS to provide career exposure, access, and resources to Baltimore City public high school students interested in science and technology. I always look forward to collaboration with this dynamic organization!" Matthew Smith, Towson University STEM Career Coach, is back this summer teaching invaluable professional development skills.
Doing Our Part
This week we are taking a more creative approach toward expanding and extending our diverse and inclusive culture to our students, alumni and stakeholders. In light of  Baltimore Restaurant Week, we encourage you to try  The Land of Kush, one of our community’s many black owned restaurants. Thanks to Baltimore Magazine for curating a  list of black owned culinary options .
We equip our city's brightest students with the tools to
propel them to college and career success.
