Many people are going on their family vacations this summer. Be it the bungalow colony, a resort, or even day trips. Unfortunately, there isn't any vacation for IDF soldiers. Especially not this year. I work with individuals who have been on reserve duty for over 200 days this year. I spoke with a soldier just last week who is doing his mandatory service and thought he would be home for Shabbat, but unfortunately, with the ongoing war in the south and threats from Hezbollah and Iran, his leave and that of his friends was canceled once again.
So what can we, the donors and volunteers at Standing Together, do? We can bring a small taste of summer to IDF soldiers as often as possible. Our Standing Together Hospitality Food Truck will be going out to the soldiers defending the 7 different borders of Israel. We will play inspiring music and give out ice cream, waffles, donuts, cooling drinks and other tasty snacks. When possible, we will dance with the IDF soldiers as we have done in the past. The soldiers love these visits and are so grateful that we travel hours to get to them and provide treats, letters, and more. The IDF soldiers overwhelming joy at seeing the Standing Together Hospitality Food Truck and our volunteers from around the world, make all our efforts worthwhile.
