Dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus, part of the growing repentance remnant, cleansing as His Bride, getting ready for His soon return as our Bridegroom-----
Years ago, thanks to my sister in Christ, Deb, NDR published a small booklet that is a prized possession in our small library. It speaks to each of us all the more today:"NO American Survival Without Repentance Revival."
Without the Holy Spirit, and without the revelation that repentance is a gift, personally and nationally, human thinking among leaders urges us to " rescue" and "rebuild" in the face of our increasing disasters.
But we are missing God's signals!
Yes, let's rescue, let's show His Mercy, but then we need to reflect. There need to be 3 "Rs"--- rescue, reflect on His Message in that disaster, and then repent.
Only then, with His Wisdom and His Healing, can there be restoration. As she writes: " In fact, God HIMSELF will restore us: " 'Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; now will your vine in the field cast its grapes, ' says the LORD of hosts." Malachi 3:11
The booklet was written to be handed out freely at conferences where pastors would be attending. Copies of George Washington's Inaugural Address, the Proclamations calling for a National Day of "Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer" of John Adams, James Madison, and Abraham Lincoln were included, together with the classic Scripture from Joel 2:12-21.
The booklet ends with President James Madison's 1812 Proclamation of a 'Day of Humiliation and Prayer" [ " It being a duty peculiarly incumbent in a time of public calamity and war, humbly and devoutly to acknowledge our dependence on Almighty God, and to implore his aid and protection."]
As always, God answered that Day of Humiliation and Prayer. In His perfect timing, God's Solution unfolded: an extraordinarily powerful rainstorm doused the fires set by the British to burn down the Capitol and the White House.
Historic accounts state that British Admiral Cockburn was so aggrieved by the weather that he exclaimed to one lady: 'Great God, Madam! is this the kind of storm to which you are accustomed in this infernal country?' The lady aply answered: 'No, sir, this is a special interposition of Providence to drive our enemies from our city."
British history records this fact: more British soldiers were killed by this stroke of nature from God than from all the firearms the American troops had mustered in the feeble defense of their city.
Months later to heal the nation, President Madison proclaimed another such Day of Public Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer.
It has been nearly 250 year since our Founding by His Miracles. It's time TODAY to follow in the footsteps of our Founding Fathers and humbly declare another National Day of Repentance!
