Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Continues it's Record Setting
Pandemic Run!

"Tracking" is the term used by the industry to project what a film will open at with its first weekend gross ticket sales. Usually after the films opens at a number, its total box office number is calculated as it matures from that opening gross (multiplier). Lots of factors and not trying to bore you, but the tracking last week for Carnage was at 55m. Friday was up to a 70m opening weekend. Well, Thursday at the Odom was really good. Friday seemed like something was going on in town and people are just buying tickets to hide from the cancel fascist. Then Saturday happened and we we did Star Wars (December 2019) opening numbers on Venom- Let There Be Carnage (pandemic October 2021).

Then Venom: Let There Be Carnage opened over Venom's 2018 gross of 80m and suddenly there were no asterisks, no excuses, no streaming and the people had voted with their debit cards and feet. F**k this pandemic s**t we are returning to normal, going out to the movies and having a beer, great food and watching a film with real people. So those of us that cook, love to say "stick a fork in it, it's done". The news says Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has covid and he is vaccinated. So that says what? He is one of 7 supreme court justices and all but lives in a vaccinated bubble. Let's just say we are done with the totalitarian mandates if they can't protect a Supreme Court Justice. He is young, healthy and will be fine. He does not have to worrying about losing his job or getting cancelled for not getting the jab. Unlike our frontline workers, many of whom have had covid and are now mandated to get a shot. Make zero sense.

Is that really the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? I think not.

That brings me to the subject of this weeks email. After all we have been through the last couple of years, It's No Time To Die. And yes, I am vaccinated. A lot of you have natural antibodies so let's focus on Bond, James Bond. About the time the China Pandemic was hitting, we were ending our run of Knives Out starring Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas. It was in a couple of emails they were in the latest Bond film, No time to Die. Well here it is 2 years later and we are previewing it this Thursday. It sits at 82 and Certified Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes and has stellar numbers at the UK box office. The tracking is at 95M and looks to settle in for an extended theatrical run. It previews Thursday and with its 2 hour and 43 minute run time we will have limited showings, so probably a good idea to plan ahead.

The long and the short of it is Keri and I want to thank all of you like minded folks for supporting us during these crazy times. Keri and I are looking forward to making changes to the patio to start showing games and films outside as the days grow shorter. The changes are driven by the building code and what the City of Redmond requires
(They have been great during the pandemic and I need to comply with the building code, now that I am calling the pandemic over). Stay tuned. Please remember when our founding fathers drew a line in the sand and signed the Declaration of Independence they stipulated all people have certain inalienable rights that can't be taken away or given up. These rights are the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They fought a war against the strongest military power at the time, and won. I choose to fight, honor them and not forfeit my liberty.

Thanks again for all your support.

"No Time To Die"
Opens
October 8th

Daniel Craig is finally back in his final role as James Bond. He stars with his costar from last years "Knives Out", Ana De Armas. This $300m film will be the longest Bond yet, at 2 Hours and 43 Minutes.

In No Time To Die, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter, from the CIA, turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology
If you click on the movie posters, the trailers will pop up so you can get an idea about these great films we are trying to book here at the Odem.
Venom Let There Be Carnage
It's a good idea to watch Venom for background before watching Let There Be Carnage. Carnage did a pandemic record 90.1 million this week and fans love it with an audience score of 85%

Venom: Let There Be Carnage review: Sometimes the sequel is WAY better
So I wish I had booked Venom back in the day.
The Eyes Of Tammy Faye
Ends Wednesday

The Eyes of Tammy Faye Is getting a lot of Oscar buzz with the always great Jessica Chastain. She is one of the most respected actors of her generation. Her recent portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker is a testament to her exceptional onscreen presence and talent.

“The Eyes of Tammy Faye” will track “the rise, fall, and redemption through the ’70s and ’80s of thick-lashed singing televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, who rose with her husband, Jim Bakker, from a humble beginning to create the world’s largest religious broadcasting network and theme park.” Eventually, heavy spending and financial improprieties brought down their empire.
