Dear Gould Families,

We learned today that a remote student has tested positive for Covid. Although the student has not been on campus, they did have contact with other students (day and boarding) while training at the mountain yesterday. The good news is that this contact was outside, masked, AND goggled, so we feel cautiously optimistic.

Those contacts have been identified and quarantined and will be tested. The Heath Center team is verifying that there were no other close contacts. The positive student is currently asymptomatic.

Because contact was so limited, and because close contacts are already quarantined, there will be no disruption to the school schedule or routine.

As the number of cases continues to increase, it is more important than ever that people isolate themselves—not come to campus or attend on- or off-campus trainings—if anyone in their household feels ill or experiences ANY Covid-like symptoms.

Likewise, if a member of your household is identified as a “close contact,” your student should stay home and contact the Gould Health Center for further instructions.

We know some of you had questions last week about Gould's emergency notification system. We are reviewing that process today and may ask you to review your emergency contact information in the near future.

Thank you as always for your support,
Julie Reiff (on behalf of the Covid-Response Team)
