Newsletter #12
June 28, 2020
The NoBurnBroome email list is growing and perhaps it's best that I send the news out via the Newsletter.
Today, there were two letters in the Press & Sun-Bulletin, Binghamton NY:
This week's Press Coverage.
Sadly, no one covered the private meeting, covened by Sungeel's PR firm, that will take place tomorrow.
June 26, 2020:
Thank you for your email.
This is the first I have seen who was invited. So, thank you for that information. I was told the Village’s assistance was not needed.
Furthermore, I will not be attending this meeting on the 29
th
as I do not feel it is legal for me to do so. It is not a public meeting, therefore it would not be legal to attend. Deputy Mayor Chapman, and I believe Trustee Eileen, will also not be attending the 29
th
meeting. I will watch the public meeting on the 30
th
.
This meeting was not called by, or arranged by, the Village in any way. I did want to have a public meting like this with the company. But, my plan would have given people more than 3 days to submit letters.
Our Village attorney keeps us in line with all the laws and regulations. So, Bob - I am not attending this meeting on the 29
th
!
Mayor Linda Jackson

Comment from Ellen C. in response to the Mayor's statement
,
"This is the first I have seen who was invited." We do not know who Sungeel's PR firm sent the invitation to. In our letter to the Endicott Village Board, we included the cc's we sent our letter to, which were: Town of Union Board members, Broome County Legislators, NYS Assemblywoman Lupardo, NYS Senator Akshar, and Congressman Brindisi.
