Behavioral Health Career Forums bring together industry and education partners
Thanks to a grant from Larimer County Behavioral Health Services, the Behavioral Health Committee was able to host two forums that brought together industry and education to forge connections of collaboration with the common goal of increasing and better preparing the future behavioral health workforce in Northern Colorado.

The Forums hosted Colorado State University/Front Range Community College (February 24) and University of Northern Colorado/Aims Community College (April 13) and each included representatives from Northern Colorado behavioral health related service providers.

Ideas that came out of the forums include:
  • Creating more opportunities to gain experience: Offering shorter time frame internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships, mentoring
  • Providing paid internships
  • Providing training and resources for post graduation to help students be career ready
  • How to negotiate a fair salary
  • Ideas for preventing burnout
  • Human skills (commonly referred to as soft skills): communication, resiliency, professionalism
  • Educating on the many behavioral health career pathways
  • Understanding differing generations and their approach to work

Contact Anna Von Dreele if you are interested in hearing more or being involved with any of the follow up sessions planned for this summer.
