Dear fellow clergy and church wardens,
It is time once again to begin our preparations for the 2020 Diocesan Council, which will take place February 20 - 22. Our theme for this coming year will center around Ephesians 1:18 “with the eyes of our heart enlightened.” This comes from Paul’s beautiful prayer for the believers in Ephesus where he gives thanks for their faith and their love of God’s people. He prays that God will grant them wisdom, a knowledge of God’s presence and that “with the eyes of [their] heart enlightened” they can see the hope of God’s call. Truly, this is a prayer we can pray for this Diocese.
God calls many persons in many ways, and often those calls are delivered by and/or affirmed by the invitation to participate at a local, diocesan, national, or even international level position. We will keep this easy and just ask you at this time to focus on those who might be called to serve at the diocesan level. Please prayerfully consider that God might be calling you as well.
Each year the
Nominating Committee of our Diocese
gathers the names of individuals who are submitted for consideration for the elected offices of the Diocese. We invite you now to identify members of your congregation and to submit their names as potential candidates for election to the various offices which will be filled by the 2020 Diocesan Council. All names will be considered, but due to the changing needs of the diocese, not every name submitted will necessarily appear on the ballot.
As co-chairs of the Nomination Committee this year, we ask that you review the offices that need to be filled and prayerfully reflect on those whose leadership qualities and gifts might be a fit for the opportunity to serve in those positions. We all have a variety of gifts and experiences that can benefit one another and our diocese as a whole. We encourage you to seek out those who are faithful and passionate about serving their Lord through this diocese and help them discern if God could be calling them to use the gifts he has bestowed upon them for the benefit of the larger body by allowing their name to go forward for nomination to one of the elected positions that will be voted on at Diocesan Council.
Nomination forms are
no later than All Saints’ Day, November 1.
Completed forms may be submitted using one of the following methods:
- Email to email@example.com as an attachment
- Fax to (210) 824-1312, Attn: Leigh Saunders
- Mail to the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas (P.O. Box 6885, Attn: Leigh Saunders; San Antonio, TX 78209)
We appreciate your time and consideration in this important matter. Thank you for inviting others to share in the ministry of Christ through the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas and may God enlighten the eyes of our heart.
