FAFP Supports FTC's Rule to Ban Non Compete Clauses
Blue pen and a non compete contract on a clipboard. Noncompete contract is an agreement between employee and employer_ not to enter into competition in subsequence business effort. Legal form concept.
As many as 45% of family physicians have employment contracts that include non-compete clauses. Our members share stories about how restrictive covenants impact our ability to provide continuity of care for our patients and our communities. The FAFP Board of Directors identified limiting the enforcement of non compete clauses in physician contracts as a 2023 legislative priority, and endorsed a resolution on the matter to the 2022 FMA Annual Meeting. Now, the FAFP is joining the AAFP in its support of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) proposed regulation designed to ban non compete clauses in all employment contracts. We encourage members to submit comments, as the FAFP will, during the public comments period by CLICKING HERE prior to March 10.

Through the FRAME program, healthcare professionals may be eligible to receive an award of up to $20,000 to offset student loan debts for their medical education. For any questions or concerns not included or answered on the website, DoH staff encourages family physicians to reach out directly by emailing [email protected]
