We continue to experience unprecedented times as we navigate this new Covid-19 world together. While you’re sure to be facing some unique challenges right now, maybe there are some opportunities to explore, too! We’d like to offer a few suggestions:
Leverage the relationships you’ve established with your faithful donors
– especially those who give through their donor advised funds. Express your immediate needs to them and explain how they can not only help, but also keep your mission alive by exceeding their normal gifts.
Ask your board if they have existing relationships with financial advisors
and ask for introductions. You may find that previously busy calendars have opened up and now have room for a conversation or two about potential donors who could help your cause.
We know it’s not top of mind right now, but
don’t neglect planned giving.
Increased communication with your faithful donors and potential donors opens doors for them to describe their goals, such as creating a family legacy, helping grow your endowment or leaving a gift in their will.
When this time has passed, you’re sure to look back and recognize a few missteps. We hope that you are also able celebrate a few successes. Don’t let these daunting times paralyze your efforts! Take this opportunity to be authentic and transparent with your donors, your board, your clients and the community at large. You are not meant to go it alone.
