Is 70 ½ Your Lucky Number?
There are many people for whom a particular number is considered either lucky or unlucky. For my father, he always considered the number 9 to be an unlucky one. He claimed that whenever something bad happened to him, it had something to do with the number 9. And God rest his soul, he died on April 19, 1999 at the age of 69.
Others have lucky numbers that they swear by, and figure heavily in choosing a home (the address must be right), or a wedding date, or even when playing blackjack or buying a lottery ticket.

The Giving Marketplace
|
|
We'd like to welcome the following organizations to The Giving Marketplace. Click on the link below to learn more about the organization and their work in our community:
The information exchange between The Giving Marketplace and Guidestar has recently changed. Now, when agency updates are published in The Giving Marketplace, the information is automatically updated on the agency's national Guidestar profile.
If you update your profile in Guidestar and would like those changes to be applied to your Giving Marketplace profile, contact Debbie Cahoon and ask her to "sync" your Marketplace profile to your Guidestar profile.
We encourage organizations to take a few moments to review your profile from the user/donor perspective. Without logging in, search from the list to see how your profile looks to system users. In addition to the growing list of grantmaking groups who use this platform as part of their due diligence process, there are many donors who use The Giving Marketplace to evaluate nonprofits. This time of year we see increased hits on the site as these folks are planning year end giving. Whether individual donors or groups, they expect to see complete information. At a minimum, double check your board member list, South Carolina Secretary of State Registration expiration date, Director and Officer Insurance policy expiration date and financials.
If you would like The Giving Marketplace logo to add to your email signature line or organization's website, we are happy to provide that so you can promote your profile with your constituents.
If your organization is not yet on The Giving Marketplace, contact Debbie Cahoon for an overview and assistance to get started. An up-to-date Marketplace profile is required in order to apply for a grant from the Foundation.

Lowcountry Volunteer Connections
|
|
Lowcountry Volunteer Connections is a great resource for you to find and recruit new volunteers. When you list the causes that relate to your mission, volunteers who have a preference for those causes will receive notification of your needs.
Additionally, when a volunteer fans your organization they will also receive advance notification of your needs. Encourage your volunteers to register on the site and "fan" you agency to automatically receive email notifications when you post volunteer needs.
If you still have needs relating to the holiday season, feel free to add them on Lowcountry Volunteer Connections'
"#SEASONOFGIVING2018". In addition to volunteer service needs, we encourage agencies to list tangible needs like toy drives, clothing drives or food drives. Help our community find ways they can give this holiday season. If you have questions, contact
Debbie Cahoon.

2018 Annual Report Online

HHI Public Art Exhibition: "#ARTFORALL"
Don't miss the 2018 Public Art Exhibition on display now through January 31 at Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island. The biennial exhibition, hosted by the Public Art Fund of Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, features 20 large scale sculptures created by artists from around the country. The pieces --- some as tall as 20 feet --- are installed among marshes, camellia gardens and in open fields throughout the museum grounds.
Remember to strike your most creative pose with one of the exhibition's sculptures as your backdrop. Upload your best shot to our FaceBook page with the tag "ARTFORALL." You'll be automatically entered into a random drawing where you'll have the chance to select a local arts organization to receive a $5,000 grant from Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. The contest runs through December 31.
