About the Speakers:
April A. Besl
Partner, Dinsmore & Shohl LLP
More of a partner than a legal adviser to her clients, April focuses her practice on intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, social media, Internet law, advertising, design patents, and trade secrets. She services a large and diverse portfolio of trademarks and copyrights, domestic and worldwide, for a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to individual entrepreneurs.

She has experience assisting clients with emerging issues related to the impact of social media, the web and technology on their business and marketing strategies. April helps clients protect and enforce their trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual property from misuse via social networking sites, search engine optimization strategies, and keywords, as well as against misuse on mobile devices and other emerging technologies. In addressing these evolving issues and technologies, she provides a direct, strategic and thoughtful approach tailored to the culture and goals of each individual client.
Erin Childs
Executive Director, Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio
Erin is responsible for advancing the mission of PBPO and leading the staff and legal programs. Involved in all areas of the organization, Erin sets strategy, provides operations and financial oversight, recruits volunteer attorneys, promotes client outreach and education, and frequently lectures about nonprofit and tax-exempt organization law. Prior to joining PBPO, Erin was an attorney with Thompson Hine, LLP in Cincinnati, Ohio. While in private practice, Erin's pro bono work included volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for ProKids. Erin was hired as the Executive Director of Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio when it was founded in 2014.
Jackie Hobbs
Associate General Counsel, Duke Energy
Jackie Hobbs is an Associate General Counsel at Duke Energy in the HR Legal group. She has been with the Company for 15 years and provides advice and counsel to her clients on a variety of labor and employment matters, including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, wage and hour and reorganizations. Prior to joining Duke Energy, Jackie practiced labor and employment law at Ulmer & Berne LLP for approximately 8 years. She is a frequent PBPO volunteer, and is very passionate about the work she is able to do for PBPO clients.
