Nonprofit storytelling is a powerful way to drive awareness, empathy, and action. It transforms statistics and mission statements into human-centered narratives that show why the work matters. By highlighting real people, their struggles, and the impact of donor support, storytelling makes complex issues relatable and urgent.

 

Authentic stories should center the voices of those directly affected, upholding dignity and avoiding stereotypes. Visuals, quotes, and personal journeys help messages resonate and spread. Used strategically, storytelling builds trust, strengthens community ties, and inspires action. For those wanting to learn more, the Deschutes Public Library offers a range of books on effective storytelling.

Candid Learning

Candid Learning is a learning community for the social sector. It provides easy-to-use, self-service tools and resources to help nonprofits worldwide become more viable grant applicants and build strong, sustainable organizations. Its Knowledge Base is in FAQ format, and provides information and resources on grant writing, finding funders, nonprofit management and best practices.  

Nonprofit Stats by Congressional District

Across the U.S., nonprofits fill gaps in government services, generate economic activity, meet dire community needs, and more. But their contributions often go unrecognized. Candid is providing insights to give nonprofits the data they need to advocate for their work.
