The 2026 Giving Challenge

Survey Results Are In

We asked for feedback, and you answered the call.

After each Giving Challenge, participating organizations are asked to complete a survey, providing feedback on their experience during the event. This year, 751 nonprofits participated in the Giving Challenge and we received 315 survey responses, representing 42 percent of participants. We also gleaned additional data insights from GiveGab, our platform partner since the 2020 Giving Challenge, and then analyzed all the results in order to improve the Giving Challenge experience for nonprofits, donors, and the public at large.

A full report on the data is now available online as part of the Community Foundation’s Community Indicators Dashboard. It’s full of info about how organizations of different sizes, structures, and causes fared, how nonprofits are stewarding their donors after the challenge, where donations came from, and much, much more. Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey. Your feedback is valued and appreciated.

The Giving Challenge Wrap-up

Party Was a Blast!

So. Much. Fun.

We threw a party for organizations that participated in the Giving Challenge at Urban Air Adventure Park last month, and nonprofits showed up big time. Leaders mingled and reconnected, our final Giving Challenge prize winners were announced, and the air was filled with laughter and conversation. You can peruse photo highlights from the festivities on the Community Foundation website and hear from some of the organizations that attended over on our YouTube channel.

Help Us Improve This Newsletter

We’re looking to revamp and redesign Nonprofit News and we need your input.

The Community Foundation created our Nonprofit News email newsletter to keep subscribers in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties informed about new grant opportunities, workshops, trainings, and more, and we’re always striving to make it as useful as possible for our readers.

As we look to redesign the newsletter, we created a simple five-question survey to capture what you like about it, what you don’t like about it, and how we can make it more useful. The survey should take just five minutes—please let us know how we’re doing!

New Participatory Grantmaking Initiative Launches in Newtown

The deadline to apply is Friday, July 31.

The Newtown Business Council, in partnership with the Community Foundation, is helping lead a new initiative designed to support long-term disaster recovery and resilience efforts for nonprofits serving Sarasota’s Newtown community. Through this participatory grantmaking process, organizations will have access to funding opportunities focused on long-term community stabilization, recovery, and resilience.

Priority funding areas include:

  • Home repair and housing needs
  • Case management
  • Legal services
  • Mental and behavioral health support
  • Hurricane resilience education
  • Senior recovery support
  • Temporary housing and neighborhood recovery resources

The Newtown Business Council will serve as the community facilitation and engagement partner for the initiative, helping coordinate outreach, information sessions, and communication throughout the grant cycle.

The Florida Nonprofit Alliance Compensation & Benefits Survey Is Now Live

Your response matters.

The Florida Nonprofit Alliance, with support from partners like the Community Foundation, recently launched its first comprehensive, statewide compensation and benefits survey.

Once the results are collected, they will be presented as part of a comprehensive Compensation & Benefits Report and Dashboard that will provide benchmarking data for a wide range of positions across organizations of varying sizes throughout Florida.

But we need your help.

To provide county-level data, the alliance must have a minimum of five respondents per position and county to make the data robust enough to include in the report. Please note that your responses are confidential and will only be reported in aggregate.

The final report and dashboard will help Florida nonprofits demonstrate sound management to grantmakers, donors, and community stakeholders, while also supporting hiring, retention, and informed budgeting decisions. Most importantly, the data will help ensure your organization’s compensation practices remain competitive and aligned with the market.
