Capacity Building Grants

Capacity Building Grants (up to $10,000) respond to organizational needs and are designed to help improve a nonprofit's ability to fulfill its mission. Applications are reviewed monthly.
Grade-Level Reading and Family Success Grants

Grade-Level Reading and Family Success Grants from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County provide funding for organizations whose programs and services align with the Community Foundation's Campaign for Grade-Level Reading areas of focus.

Grant requests are invitation only on a rolling basis throughout the year from organizations that focus their efforts on closing the achievement gap, helping students achieve reading proficiency by 3rd grade and/or implementing programs that are whole-family focused.
Equity and Access Grants

Equity and Access Grants ($5,000 – $30,000) are designed to align with our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Priority will be given to proposals that promote educational and health care equity to those populations who face systemic barriers in our community.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed in December, February, April, and June.
Strategic Partnerships

Requests for support for events and/or public programs not meeting other grant opportunities are considered on an ongoing basis through this application.
These requests should represent the diversity of our region and uphold and promote activities that ensure accessibility for all.

They should also bring awareness to community needs and opportunities as well as demonstrate our area’s culture of philanthropy and strive to connect people with causes.

The 2020 Census: A Voice for the Future

Responding to this year’s census is a once-a-decade opportunity to make sure those who follow have more to count on than a historical record. By responding to the census, each household response helps allocate federal funding and congressional representation, among other critical metrics. And, the answers we share today provide a voice as well as an economic and social blueprint for future generations, as funding for schools, hospitals and roads – just to name a few top items – are all viewed through the lens of the census.

In this blog post by Mischa Kirby, APR, Vice President of Strategic Communications and Marketing, learn how completing the census and encouraging others to do so gives coming generations a clear voice for the future.
