Happy Wednesday, fellow nonprofiteers!
Today is a bittersweet one for me, as I announce that this will be the last What's Good Wednesday newsletter for a while. I still plan to share awesome nonprofit news from my home on Maryland's Mid-Shore each Wednesday on the WCEI Morning Show, but I'll be taking time off from the weekly newsletter.
I truly love this project, but in the spirit of practicing what I preach, I'm doing a bit of recalibration so that I can provide the best possible service to my growing What's Good family of nonprofits and put the finishing touches on a very exciting project (which I can't wait to unveil to you in the near future).
Thank you all so much for tuning in for the past several months as I have had the opportunity to share awesome news from nonprofits across the country - and in some instances, from around the world. I hope to be back at it soon!
Before I sign off for a little while, scroll down to enjoy reading about What's Good in nonprofits this week!

Talbot Interfaith Shelter had a successful weekend at the Academy Art Museum in Easton during the opening of artist Anita Groener’s new exhibit! Part of the exhibit was an animated short film called “Shelter,” which features stories from TIS guests.
| | | |
There were two events celebrating Groener's exhibit. Each event was attended by approximately 120 people. On Saturday, the Groener and documentarian Matt Kresling hosted a Q&A session following the screening, with opening remarks by Charlotte Kasic, the Executive Director of the Academy Arts Museum, and Richard Marks, a supporter of TIS and the documentary.
On Sunday, opening remarks were provided by Peter Woicke, TIS Board member, and the originator and champion of the project, and Cid Collins Walker, Artistic Director of the Chesapeake Film Festival . The screening was followed by an engaging conversation with Groener and TIS Executive Director Julie Lowe.
Shelter explores homelessness and the challenges faced by those rebuilding their lives. It also highlights the impact of Talbot Interfaith Shelter’s work, celebrating the resilience and power of community. The exhibit will be displayed at the Academy Art Museum through October 27th. The Shelter film will also be featured at the Chesapeake Film Festival opening on Friday, October 10th at the Ebenezer Theatre in Easton.

I'm very excited to share that What's Good, LLC is a top 5 finalist in two categories of the APG Best of the Best Chesapeake Contest: Best Consultant and Best Customer Service. Thank you so very much to everyone who sent in nominations! The voting period opens Monday, September 8th and runs daily through Friday, September 26th. If you are located on the Mid-Shore, I hope you'll vote for me while cheering on your other favorite local businesses!
I am also thrilled to welcome Channel Marker to the What's Good family! They are an incredible local resource that provides a wide range of mental health and wellness solutions for our Mid-Shore neighbors. We had a great kick off meeting earlier this week, and I can't wait to assist them with their development and marketing strategy.
It was my pleasure to share some words of praise for our local nonprofits in honor of National Nonprofit Day on August 17th. Read my statement from the article in last week's Queen Anne's County Chamber of Commerce Newsletter!

I know I have said this before, but it's worth repeating - in fact, it's worth shouting from the rooftops. Nonprofit work, as infinitely rewarding as it is, can be incredibly stressful. Our industry is filled with people who have big hearts and big ideas to make the world a better place. Burn out is an epidemic in our line of work, largely because we care so much and take on more and more in the name of helping others. But we can't help others if we don't first take care of ourselves.
Your community needs your heart, your light, your ideas, and your passion! Make sure you are setting yourself up for success and longevity by finding the balance you need to protect your health and wellbeing, just as strongly as you would advocate for that of others. As you do periodically for your organization, it's important to take the time out to evaluate what is working for you and what isn't. If need be, explore ways to streamline and refine your approach so that you can be as effective and efficient as possible. Your energy is not infinite, so be thoughtful about how you are spending it. Your health and happiness are not only important for you and your loved ones; they are also essential for the success of your organization, its mission, and its beneficiaries!
