GiveCard Online Info Session - United Way will be hosting an information session via Zoom on October 21 at 10:30. GiveCard is a card issuing platform that allows agencies to distribute ready-to-spend debit cards to clients as needed. A GiveCard can be used anywhere but the technology allows each agency to add permissions and restrictions to each card (eg, permissions for grocery stores, pharmacies only; restrictions on convenience or liquor stores). HUD VASH Vouchers - United Way's Community Assistance Network (CAN) is has partnered with Hampton Dept of Social Services to provide HUD VASH vouchers to veterans. Please refer Veterans in rent arrears to CAN at 757-229-2222. A CAN advocate will confirm the referral, complete an intake, and determine eligibility. The CAN advocate will then handle the initial contact with the landlord to determine if they are willing to accept a voucher. Click here for list of required documentation that the veteran will need.
