Nor-Gwyn Hawks Baseball Tournament Teams will be holding tryouts in mid to late March. Age groups are 8u, 9u, 10u, and 11u (based on player age on May 1st).

The teams participate in the Ripken Tournament Trail as well as local and destination tournaments (the Cooperstown Backyard Classic and the Ripken Experience in Aberdeen, Maryland).

The season runs concurrently with the rec season and runs until the end of July. Teams typically play anywhere from 4-6 tournaments a season.

On top of the registration fee, our teams are partially funded through the Nor-Gwyn fundraisers throughout the year (the Beef and Beer and the Golf Outing.) Be on the lookout for an email from Nor-Gwyn with more information in mid to late February.

FLY EAGLES FLY!!!

12U Hawks Super Bowl Block Pool

The 12U Nor-Gwyn Hawks are running a Super Bowl block pool to help them get to Cooperstown Dreams Park this summer. See the flyer below for details. Good luck to all of our participants and thanks for your support!

Nor-Gwyn has many members in the trades, plumbers, electricians, construction, painters, etc. We are always in need of work around the complex. If you would like to help out, please contact John Clayton at [email protected]

Nor-Gwyn Long Range Planning Update

The Nor-Gwyn Board of Directors, with input from the survey results last summer, has approved the following capital improvement projects. Some projects are underway while others are still in the planning/permitting process.

  • Converting the bathrooms to public sewer: A waste disposal company pumped out the sewage pit. The Board is working with Upper Gwynedd Township and local plumbers on next steps. We are hoping for completion of the project in the early spring.
  • Expanding the parking lot: permits have been submitted to Upper Gwynedd Township and to PECO to review the new site plan.
  • New signage around the complex
  • Installation of more safety netting
  • Build a softball training area behind Field 6
  • Removal of trees/brush behind Field 3 and Field 6.
  • Install retaining wall along first base line on Field 3 to improve water runoff. Permit will be submitted to Upper Gwynedd Township within the next few weeks.
  • New nets at Hawk's Nest (completed fall 2022)
  • New L screens for Hawk's Nest (completed fall 2022)
  • Replacement of several dugout pads that are cracked or in disrepair

NOR-GWYN YOUTH BASEBALL & SOFTBALL TEAM SPONSOR

Nor-Gwyn is seeking sponsors for youth baseball and softball teams. Sponsor names are displayed on the teams' shirts. Players often wear the shirts after the season, which is an opportunity for our sponsors to be displayed around the community.  Sponsors for outfield signs are also being sought.  Sponsor signs are displayed on fences from opening day through the end of Fall Ball, providing the opportunity for viewing by NG families as well as visiting team families.

JR and Ryan Roach Named Nor-Gwyn's 2022 Volunteers of the Year

Congratulations to JR Roach and his son Ryan for being awarded the 2022 Nor-Gwyn Baseball & Softball Volunteers of the Year!

JR and Ryan were instrumental in completing the dugouts for the Hostelley Stadium renovation. Without them and their team of volunteers, Nor-Gwyn’s Legion and Connie Mack teams would not have roofs and the viewing platform would just be a dream. JR is a Nor-Gwyn Youth Baseball Coach and last season coached Ryan’s Minors Rec team. JR’s positive attitude, willingness to help around the complex, and dedication to Nor-Gwyn is exemplary.
