Healthy Tips for a Busy Holiday Season
From Ande Masoncup,
Asst. Superintendent of Rec

The holiday season has arrived whether we are ready for it or not! We have already had two snowfalls and who knows what else is in store for the rest of winter. This season brings lots of joy, laughter and togetherness, but often it brings more stress than usual. We are out and about and not taking care of ourselves to keep illness away.  A few tips which we all know, but a reminder might help.
  1. Wash your hands often
  2. Drink plenty of water
  3. Bundle up to stay dry and warm
During this season, we find that we may be exercising a little less because there is shopping to be done and parties to attend. But exercise helps us cope with stress, so during the holidays try and make it a priority and fit it in your schedule!  Here are just a few ideas to sneak in your exercise routine during the holiday season:
  • Pack a healthy lunch and take a walk on your break at work instead of going out
  • Start your day early and exercise before work
  • Go for walk in the evening (remember to bundle up!) if you were not able to make it to the fitness center

EXCITING NEWS!!! The eNews will now be delivered monthly. We feel that there is a lot happening at NRC and a bimonthly eNews is not getting it done. We would like our members to receive information closer to event/program dates.
Don't Miss This Annual Event!
Chrissa Flaks
Group Fitness Instructor

Chrissa Flaks started teaching group fitness classes in 2010. Her first certification was for indoor cycling. Part of what inspired her to get into teaching cycle was the fact that she taught music and she loved that cycle had such a unique connection with music. Since then, she has gone on to become certified in AFAA Group Fitness, Kickboxing, TRX, PiYo, Barre, Pilates and Yoga. She loves teaching a variety of formats and loves to be creative in finding ways to bring variety to her classes whether it is through the music or through movement and patterns. Never being one that was very into sports, she always loved the environment of group fitness and the energy that it provided for people.

During the day Chrissa is a full-time band director for the two middle schools in Geneva. She plays flute and team-teaches with her husband. Chrissa grew up in St. Charles and attended St. Charles East High School. When she was a junior and senior in high school she attended step classes at Norris (even with some of the current instructors). Being back at Norris is fun for her because of this nostalgic feel! She attended University of Illinois for her bachelor's degree and Northwestern University for her Master's degree (both in music education). When she isn't teaching or planning, Chrissa loves doing anything craft-related and loves cooking and taking cooking classes.

Chrissa lives in Geneva with her husband Jason, twin girls Vivian and Eliana (10),
her son Ethan (5), and her daughter Evelyn (3).

Registration will close at 9am on the Thursday before the event. Max 16/Min 8 players.
