1st Annual North American Conference on Trapped Ions (NACTI)
On 14 - 18 August, 2017 NIST in Boulder, CO will host the inaugural North American Conference on Trapped Ions (NACTI).  The meeting will bring together the North American and international ion trapping communities, focusing on applications of trapped ions in quantum technologies, precision measurements, chemistry and spectroscopy.

Vescent and other suppliers will join in support of over 250 scientists at this seminal conference.


Vescent, along with Cold Quanta, Stable Laser Systems, and HPD, are co-sponsoring a reception on the first evening of the NACTI conference. If you're attending NACTI (or in Boulder for other reasons), please join us on Monday, 14 August from 6:00 pm at the Rembrandt Yard Art Gallery in Boulder.

Light refreshments will be served in a mellow atmosphere where you can catch up with your colleagues and enjoy live music and art.

Introducing SLICE

Vescent Photonics is excited to introduce SLICE, a new line of photonics control products.  The SLICE platform is a flexible design that will allow rapid expansion of the product line as well as a great user experience with features such as a touch screen control panel and user-programmable monitor I/O. W e are currently introducing the SLICE-QT, a four-channel temperature controller. 

The  SLICE-QT will control 4 separate thermal plants such as laser diodes, non-linear and photonic crystals, and photonic integrated circuits with user-assignable 40 W of control power. This means that you may configure it for four channels of 10 W each, one channel of 40 W, or anything in between. It will autotune to the your plant and make clever use of the touch screen and physical knobs for fast, ergonomic data entry and control. It will be feature rich, including the ability to open an external interlock if a temperature goes out of a user-defined range, a settable temperature slew rate (handy for sensitive non-linear crystals), and the ability to be externally servoed.  A   data sheet for the SLICE-QT can be downloaded here

Vescent E-O Modules Now Available with Metric Baseplates

Despite the overwhelming majority of locations around the world using the "Standard" measurement system (inches and pounds), Vescent has begun offering its electro-optic modules with metric-sized baseplates.  This include the D2-100 DBR Lasers, D2-210 Saturated Absorption Spectroscopy Module, D2-250 Heterodyne Module, D2-120 Fiber-Coupling Module, and D2-130 Optical-Isolation Module.
