ONE CALL SYSTEM TEST

North Catholic High School uses the One Call system to communicate about weather-related school closings and delays or any emergency communications. Household phone numbers as provided in the parent portal will receive the alert via text or phone call.

We will perform a system test today, September 14 at 4:00pm. Please be aware that it is only a test when the alert comes through.

Families may request one additional emergency number by emailing the request to office@northcatholic.org.

PICTURE RETAKE DAY WILL BE WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16

If your student missed picture day or would simply like another chance in front of the camera, picture retake day will take place September 16. STUDENTS MUST BE REGISTERED USING THIS FORM to be photographed. No one can be photographed unless they are registered through September 13. Students should arrive to school dressed in full Mass attire on September 16 for retakes.

FROM THE GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT

AP Exam Information for May Testing

As we prepare for AP Exams this spring, please review the important information below regarding exam registration, cancellation deadlines, and make-up testing.

  • November 13 is the AP Exam ordering deadline. Students who are enrolled in an AP course and have not opted out of the exam by November 13 will be registered for the exam and billed for the exam fee.
  • Students do not need to sign up separately for AP Exams. Once a student joins their AP course in AP Classroom, they are automatically added to the exam roster.
  • All AP students must be enrolled in AP Classroom by November 13. We will review class rosters prior to the deadline and follow up with any students who have not yet enrolled.
  • Students who opt out after November 13 may still cancel their exam, but a $40 cancellation fee will apply. Students may cancel at any time before exam testing begins.
  • Students who do not formally cancel their exam and simply do not attend on exam day will be responsible for the full exam fee.
  • Students needing a make-up exam due to illness, a school-sponsored event, or another approved conflict must register for a make-up exam in advance. Make-up exams use a different version of the test, so students cannot simply attend a make-up testing date without prior registration.

If you have any questions about AP Exams, registration, or testing accommodations, please contact AP Coordinator Mr. Eric Chiesa.

SAVE THE DATE: OCTOBER 23 IS PSAT DAY

October 23 is our PSAT School Day! All students in grades 9, 10, and 11 are automatically registered free of charge. Seniors will have an opportunity to sign up to take the SAT for an additional fee. More information will be in future newsletters. A few things to note:

  • This is a half day for students, transportation is not provided after the test.
  • Testing is anticipated to end at 11 AM, assuming there are not technical difficulties
  • 9th grade students will be making College Board Accounts before test day
  • Seniors that do not register to take the SAT will not be expected to report to school

Please reach out to Ms. Katie Pearson with any questions.

9th GRADE PEER MENTOR GROUPS

Freshmen students have the opportunity to participate in the Peer Mentoring Program this school year. The transition to high school is a significant milestone, and we want to ensure that students feel supported. To help navigate this exciting new chapter, students will be paired as a mentee with a dedicated upperclassman mentor who has volunteered their time to guide, encourage, and support them.

The mentor groups will meet in person during study hall or lunch four times throughout the school year during the following windows:

  • September: Initial kickoff, icebreakers, and navigating the first weeks of school
  • October: Checking in on academic adjustments and working on time management
  • November/December: Managing final exams, holiday stress, and winter preparation
  • After Christmas Break: Launching into the second semester and setting new goals

In addition to these structured meetings, mentors will be available throughout the year.

This program will help students build meaningful connections, increase their confidence, and ensure a smooth, successful transition to high school.

Due to the limited time in their schedules, Excel students will not be able to participate in the program. If your student is having difficulty transitioning, please contact one of the counselors.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to reach out to the school counseling office or email: brittany.schneider@miu4.org or kpearson@northcatholic.org.

We’ll be honoring our military alumni who attend the Homecoming football game before kick-off on October 9, 2026.

If you have a North Catholic graduate who has served or is currently serving, please send us their name, graduation year, branch of service, and current/previous status so we can make sure they’re included and added to our website which lists all alumni who have served in the Military.

Help us recognize and thank the Trojans who have answered the call to serve.  Please contact the Alumni Office at amorrison@northcatholic.org
