TODAY IS A SPIRITWEAR DAY FOR STUDENTS WHO PURCHASED A SPIRITWEAR PASS

HOMECOMING 2026

Our 2026 Homecoming Dance will take place on October 10 from 7-10pm at North Catholic High School. The cost is $50 per ticket. Drinks will be provided. Tickets are on sale now and will close Monday, October 5 at 3:00pm. There will be NO extensions on the sales of tickets. The link for buying tickets has been emailed to all students or you can use the button below.

Any student NOT present at school on Friday, October 9 will not be permitted to attend the dance on Saturday. If they show up at the dance, parents will be contacted and the student will be asked to leave.

SPIRIT WEEK IS NEXT WEEK!

As we rev up for the Homecoming game and dance, students are invited to participate in theme dress days from October 5-9, as selected by our Student Council. We invite students to have fun with these days while being respectful of the rules! Shorts of a respectable length are permitted - they must be at least fingertip length. Hats are permitted, but masks are not. More information will be shared with students via Schoology.

WESTINGHOUSE SCIENCE HONORS INSTITUTE

Juniors interested in a career in a STEAM-related field are invited to the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute (WSHI) for a free lecture series from numerous experts in their fields, including NASA, UPMC, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and more! There are eight Saturday morning presentations from October - March.

Participation in the program includes a certificate of completion (great for college applications!) and the chance to meet and listen to leading industry experts in a wide range of STEAM careers. The program also includes the opportunity to tour the Breazeale Nuclear Reactor at Penn State University. For information, please contact amurray@northcatholic.org. The deadline to register is September 30. Scan the QR code for registration.

9th GRADE PEER MENTOR GROUPS

Freshmen students have the opportunity to participate in the Peer Mentoring Program this school year. The transition to high school is a significant milestone, and we want to ensure that students feel supported. To help navigate this exciting new chapter, students will be paired as a mentee with a dedicated upperclassman mentor who has volunteered their time to guide, encourage, and support them.

The mentor groups will meet in person during study hall or lunch four times throughout the school year during the following windows:

  • September: Initial kickoff, icebreakers, and navigating the first weeks of school
  • October: Checking in on academic adjustments and working on time management
  • November/December: Managing final exams, holiday stress, and winter preparation
  • After Christmas Break: Launching into the second semester and setting new goals

In addition to these structured meetings, mentors will be available throughout the year. This program will help students build meaningful connections, increase their confidence, and ensure a smooth, successful transition to high school.

*Due to the limited time in their schedules, Excel students were not automatically assigned a mentor. If your student is having difficulty transitioning, please contact us and we can assign them a mentor.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to reach out to the school counseling office or email: brittany.schneider@miu4.org or kpearson@northcatholic.org
