Kelly Christenson
Class of 2021
|
Senior Kelly Christenson’s favorite memory at North is everything to do with the Special Olympics season. She loves seeing all the students and staff work together to make the Special Olympics a great event. Kelly is a member of National Honor Society and English Honor Society. She is one of the student advisors for Special Olympics, on the leadership board for Unified Club, a member of the executive council for Interact Club, president of the Spanish Club, and vice president of Girl Up Club. Kelly has been a swim instructor at the Hunterdon County YMCA since her freshman year of high school. As a swim instructor, she has taught children ages three months to 12 years old how to swim and help them grow more confident in the water. Kelly says it is an incredibly rewarding part-time job. She has had many favorite classes at North Hunterdon, but her favorite would have to be Unified Leadership. Kelly loves the inclusiveness of the program and the students she helps in the classroom. Next year, Kelly wants to double major in Elementary and Special Education. She is currently applying to several universities, primarily in the Northeast region.

Andrew Fielding
Class of 2021
|
Andrew Fielding is a four-year member of North's golf team and a three-year varsity player. Andrew is the treasurer of National Honor Society, a French Honor Society senator, the Youth Secretariat of North's Model UN delegation, and the concertmaster of the North Hunterdon String Orchestra. He is also a member of the Social Studies, English, Math and Science National Honor Societies, as well as a Student Ambassador and a French club member. Andrew’s favorite classes at North were Honors Algebra II and Pre-Calc, AP World, AP Government, AP Language and AP Literature. He loved his teachers for all of these classes and they helped shape his academic success at North. Algebra and Pre-Calc fed his love of math with incredibly engaging teachers and great classmates. AP World and Gov have given him a lot to think about with regards to the social and governmental structures of our country and the world, and they have helped point him in the direction that he believes his future will take him. AP Language and Literature have made him a better reader, writer, and thinker, and the discussions that are critical to those classes are always the high point of his day. Andrew has taken violin lessons for 14 years and piano lessons for nine years. He is a barista at The Stone Bean at Riverside Coffee and Tea. Andrew is an active member at his church, where he volunteers as a worship leader, Sunday School teacher, and pastoral selection committee member. He is a former intern with King and Trofimov for NJ Assembly. Andrew enjoys skiing and rec basketball in a non-competitive capacity, and also loves hanging out with his friends and dog. Andrew has too many favorite memories from North to count. Meeting his group of lifelong friends this past year is probably his favorite (you guys are the best!!), but he will always cherish memories of Milk Can and Homecoming games, Relay for Life (hopefully this year too!), four years of Model UN, countless conversations with teachers and peers, and all the growth he experienced along the way. Lion pride!! Next year, Andrew hopes to attend Northeastern University, the University of Michigan, or Harvard College. He wants to major in economics and political science/government. After undergraduate school, he hopes to work for a JD or MBA.

Co-Captain of the Soccer team, Kyle Weiss is a two-year Varsity starter for the Lions. Kyle plays defense in the position of center back. He is fast, strong on his feet, good in the air, and tries to play each game as a shutdown defender. The team hopes to finish above .500 for the year and knock off one of the three teams who are ranked in the top ten in the state during their conference tournament. Kyle was recently named one of the top defenders in NJ for 2021 and made All-Skyland conference as a junior. He has been playing soccer for the past 13 years and plays club soccer for Hunterdon FC. Kyle also played freshman basketball and two years of varsity Lacrosse as a short-stick defensive midfielder for North. Marley Hoffman
Class of 2021
|
Captain of the Field Hockey team, Marley Hoffman is honored to be playing her fourth year on the varsity team and second year as Captain. Marley plays fullback and is proud to be part of one of the strongest defensive units in the state. Some of her strongest skills are her knowledge of the sport and her ability to lead the team on and off the field. The team goal this year is to go undefeated by focusing on one game at a time. Last year, the team had a heartbreaking 1-2 loss against Hunterdon Central in the NJ Section 2 Group 4 State Finals. They were hoping for a return trip to the finals this season, but due to Covid there will not be any county or state tournaments. The team started the season unranked, but as the season progresses their ranking keeps climbing as the team continues to “ROW” together! Marley has been playing field hockey since 2nd grade, starting in the Jr. Lions feeder program with Coach Masters and Coach Bachert. She is lucky enough to have been playing with the starting Varsity team since the beginning. Marley was a past member of the Omega Field Hockey Club and was selected for the USA Field Hockey Futures team in 2019. Although she has been playing field hockey since she was 7 years old, she is not looking to play at a Varsity level at college, but may play club depending on what school she attends. In addition to field hockey, Marley plays lacrosse for North and Triple Threat Elite/T3 Lacrosse. She intends on continuing her academic and athletic career by playing lacrosse in college where she plans on majoring in Marine Biology and minoring in Animal Behavioral Psychology. She hopes to attend school at the University of Miami, Florida State University, Florida Institute of Technology, or the University of South Carolina. Marley has also played JV Basketball for 2 years, and Lacrosse for 4 years. She is an executive board member in Interact and Able Club, Unified Club and Sports, and Relay for Life. She is an active member of Lunch Buddies, Student Ambassadors, National Honor Society, History Honor Society, a coach for Special Olympics, Key Club, and most recently started the Ocean Conservation Club at North Hunterdon Marley is currently working on her Girl Scout Gold Award, Small Changes Can Save our Seas - rethinking single use plastics. She facilitates Beach Cleanups as a Beach Sweep Captain for Clean Ocean Action, organizes Ocean Conservation Clubs at local schools, and has even helped local restaurants to reduce their single use plastic consumption. Marley is an active member of Clean Ocean Action, ReClam the Bay, and the Surfrider Foundation and enjoys educating her peers and community about how they can make a difference. She is a certified scuba diver and enjoys traveling to different countries to dive and surf. Her favorite dive experiences have been with sharks and her dream is to one day be on Shark Week.
