PPP Forgiveness Guide
Under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), loans may be forgiven if borrowers use the funds to maintain their payrolls and pay other specified expenses. The U.S. Chamber published a step-by-step PPP Forgiveness Guide to help calculate your loan forgiveness amount, navigate record-k eeping requirements, and determine repayment terms on amounts not forgiven. 

Please note, this guide will be updated as new guidance is issued by the Dept. of the Treasury.
Commerce Center to Re-open June 1
The Commerce Center will re-open to the public on June 1st, with new safety measures and procedures:

  • Gatherings will align with Iowa guidelines in terms of size, which is currently a maximum of 50% capacity, to allow for appropriate social distancing.
  • All conference rooms will be set up to accommodate appropriate physical distancing and will be sanitized between meetings.
  • Elevator use will be restricted to one person at a time.
  • Please wear a mask to enter the building. Meeting organizers will make the determination on whether or not to require masks in the conference room.
  • Markings on the floor will indicate physical distancing from the reception desks.
Iowa’s Unemployment Compensation Policies
The Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI) and the Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives (ICCE) recently brought together legal experts to answer questions about unemployment in the wake of COVID-19.

ABI Advisory Council member attorneys Beth Coonan from BrownWinick and Bridget R. Penick from Fredrikson & Byron, P.A. reviewed unemployment qualifications, length, and policies businesses should have in place for protection.

CEO Conversations - June 9
CEO Conversations featuring Steve Doerfler, President & CEO of Metalcraft, will be held from 11:30AM to 1PM on Tuesday, June 9 via Zoom Conference Call. Registration is limited.

Steve Doerfler started at Metalcraft in 1984 as an independent manufacturer's representative, covering Nebraska, Kansas and western Missouri. He was named sales manager and became a minority owner shortly after and in 1998 was named vice president of sales and marketing. In 2012, Doerfler was named President and CEO. 

CEO Conversations provides an opportunity for aspiring leaders to learn from accomplished professionals. There is no charge for this session of the series, as it will be held virtually.
