North Mankato City Council Approves T21 Ordinance
On Feb. 5, the North Mankato City Council voted to prohibit the sale of tobacco products to people under age 21. It is the fifth city in Minnesota to pass such a law and the first outside the metro area. Read more here
MN Senate Releases In-Depth Look at Provider Tax Funds
In December 2017, the Minnesota Senate Office of Counsel, Research & Fiscal Analysis released a report that reviews the revenues and expenditures associated with the Health Care Access Fund since its creation in 1992 and includes budget projections through FY 2021. This is the first comprehensive analysis of this kind done of the HCAF. Read more here

Spring Opioid Lecture Series Kicks Off Feb. 12
The first lecture of the spring 2018 semester for the MMA's Pain, Opioids, and Addiction Lecture Series is scheduled for Feb. 12 from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at Moos Tower 1-450 on the University of Minnesota campus. Read more here
Dementia Summit Planned for March 22 in St. Cloud
The Central MN Council on Aging and Stearns Benton Medical Society will host the 2018 Dementia Summit for St. Cloud-area physicians and community members on March 22 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the River's Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud. Read more here.
Registration Now Open for Day at the Capitol
Registration is now open for the MMA's 2018 Day at the Capitol, which takes place on March 14. It's a fantastic opportunity to get directly involved in the advocacy process at the Capitol and meet with state legislators.
