Marion County, FL. March 10 -
Supervisor of Elections, Wesley Wilcox is pleased to announce North Marion High School
as the winner of the 3rd Annual High School Voter Registration Challenge. The award presentation is scheduled at the commencement of the April 28 School Board Meeting.
Meetings are held at the School Board Meeting Room, located at 512 SE 3rd Street, Ocala, Fl.
The annual challenge provided by the Supervisor of Elections is aimed at increasing civic participation by registering eligible students and educating seniors about the importance of voting and the elections process. The winning school is determined by the highest number of voter registrations received compared to the number of students enrolled at each school minus those already registered.
This year's challenge occurred ahead of the 2020 Elections and took place during January and February, encompassing each of Marion County’s public high schools. Collectively, nearly 3,000 seniors participated in the registration activity, and of those that were eligible, about 500 students registered to vote and were added to Marion County's voter rolls.
