Veterans Day Celebration

The City of North Richland Hills is hosting the 19th Annual Veterans Day Celebration to honor those who have served in the armed forces on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The celebration will be held indoors in the NRH City Hall lobby, 4301 City Point Drive. It will include: a wreath of honor, NRH Police and Fire Honor Guard presenting the colors, patriotic music, performances, and keynote speaker Bill "Big Sarge" Hansen, a United States Marine Corps and Army National Guard veteran who served in both Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

After overcoming significant physical injuries, brain trauma, and personal struggles following an IED attack in Iraq, Bill transformed his life through physical fitness and devotion to his four daughters. Today, as a competitive Strongman athlete and Wounded Warrior Project® teammate, Big Sarge dedicates his life to helping fellow veterans reclaim their strength, purpose, and inner warrior.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Fix-It Blitz Makes a Difference

More than 80 volunteers came together this month to help North Richland Hills neighbors in need, including retirees, individuals with disabilities, single-parent households, and military veterans. Volunteers tackled a variety of projects, including yard cleanup, tree trimming, debris removal, and exterior home improvements. Community Effort Removes Nearly 2.3 Tons of Litter

The annual Trash Bash Litter Cleanup brought together volunteers of all ages to help make North Richland Hills cleaner and more beautiful. Community groups, residents, families, and students spent a recent Saturday morning cleaning roadways, creeks and parks throughout the city.

Thanks to the efforts of volunteers from Walker Creek Elementary, Birdville Camp Connect, Boy Scout Troops 170 and 179, Pack 525, the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and many families and individuals, nearly 2.3 tons of litter were removed from 10 parks, two creeks, and 18 miles of roadway in NRH.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to help keep our community clean and beautiful. The City also extends its appreciation to event sponsors Pudgy Penguin, Chick-fil-A (North Tarrant & Rufe Snow), Walmart (North Tarrant), and Sam's Club for helping support the event.
