NRH Restaurant Rewards Returns in 2026

Get ready to dine local and earn cash back! The popular NRH Restaurant Rewards program is back, starting January 1 through April 30, 2026 (while funds last). Enjoy 10% cash back on meals at any restaurant in North Richland Hills. Just snap a photo of your receipt using the Open Rewards: Shop Local app.

New this year: rewards are now shown as points (e.g., 1,000 points = $10). Whether you're a returning user or new to the program, it's a great way to support local businesses and treat yourself. Visit the Restaurant Rewards webpage to learn more. You can also explore nearby restaurants with the NRH Restaurant Map.

Holiday Closings & Collection Schedules

NRH City Hall and other non-emergency city offices will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 25, Dec. 26 and Jan. 1. Holiday hours for the NRH Centre, NRH Library and Animal Adoption Center vary by facility. As always, NRH emergency services are available 24/7.

Republic Services will not operate on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. During both holiday weeks, Thursday collections will be delayed until Friday and Friday collections will take place on Saturday. Please note: Republic Services' priority after the holiday will be collecting household waste. Brush, bagged leaves and bulk items may not be collected until the following week.

Short Term Rental Registration Required

If you own a short-term rental (STR) property in North Richland Hills, now is the time to ensure your property is properly registered with the City. Under the regulations adopted in October, all existing STRs must obtain an annual permit, pass an inspection, and comply with rules related to occupancy limits, noise, parking, safety, and hotel occupancy tax payments.

Registration is managed through the Rentalscape platform, where property owners can submit applications, manage inspections, and remit taxes. Please note: No new STRs are allowed in North Richland Hills' traditional single-family neighborhoods. Only properties in multi-family, commercial, and Transit Oriented Development zoning districts are eligible to be new STRs.

To learn more, visit the Short-Term Rental page on the City’s website. For questions or assistance, contact Building Inspections at 817-427-6300.

Christmas Tree Recycling Drop Off

The City of North Richland Hills and Republic Services are offering a Christmas tree recycling program for residents starting Dec. 26.

Bare Christmas trees can be dropped off Dec. 26 through Jan. 1 at Green Valley Park, 7701 Smithfield Road. Please place trees in the marked dumpsters. In order for trees to be recycled they must be free of tinsel, ornaments, bags, plastic and stands.

Mulch from the recycled trees will be available for residents to pick up Jan. 3 - 7, while supplies last. Please bring your own container and shovel to load the mulch.

If you’re unable to take your tree to one of the drop off locations, you can put it on the curb on one of your regular trash collection days; however it will go to the landfill and will not be turned into mulch. Trees larger than 5 feet should be cut in half before placing them on the curb.

If you have questions, please contact Neighborhood Services at 817-427-6650.

Reminder: Don't Pour Grease Down the Drain

The holidays will be so much brighter if you remember that fats, oils and grease (what we call FOG) can clog your pipes. Clogged sewer pipes cause backups of untreated sewage into homes. That’s a mess you don’t want to clean up!

Instead of washing FOG down the drain, take a paper towel and wipe any excess off your pans or pour it into a container. Once filled, the container can be recycled through our NRH Public Works Dept. They will collect FOG for recycling Jan. 5 - 8.

Please note that containers holding discarded cooking oil and grease must be made of plastic and have a screw-top lid. This program is for residential kitchens only and excludes commercial users. Petroleum products are not accepted.

Call our FOG pick-up line at 817-427-6457 and leave a message or email tngo@nrhtx.com to schedule a pickup. Thanks for doing your part to keep NRH sewer pipes free of oils and grease.
