Pet Adoption Fees Waived in August

Find your fur-ever friend! During the month of August, the North Richland Hills Animal Adoption & Rescue Center (AARC) is waiving adoption fees for all adoptable pets in support of “Clear the Shelters,” a national campaign that encourages people to adopt from local shelters.

Your adoption at the AARC will still include the spay/neuter of your pet, their first set of vaccines, a microchip for identification and City of NRH pet license. Thanks to the Clear the Shelters corporate sponsors and the North Tarrant County Chapter of National Charity League, adopters will also received a goodie bag for their new pet (while supplies last).

You can view adoptable pets online or by visiting the AARC at 7301 Iron Horse Blvd. Hours are noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday.

Back to School Traffic Safety Reminders

Some area schools are already back in session and the first day of school for Birdville ISD and Keller ISD is next Wednesday, Aug. 17. We want to remind everyone to be extra cautious, slow down, and be aware of active school zones during your drive. Don't pass a bus when it is stopped and showing flashing red lights or a stop sign. Wait to proceed until the bus resumes motion. Always stop when directed to do so by a school crossing guard. For more school transportation safety tips, check out the National Safety Council's Back to School Safety Checklist.
