Reminder: Prevent Water Waste

While the triple-digit days may have you wanting to run your sprinkler system more frequently for a greener lawn, all residents and businesses are reminded to follow the city's year-round Water Conservation Plan to prevent water waste. Stick to your designated watering days, which are determined by the last number of your address. You should also perform a sprinkler system checkup monthly to make sure it's operating efficiently. Check for leaks and fix sprinkler heads that are broken or spraying on the street or driveway.

Using water efficiently can help our regional water suppliers delay implementing further water use restrictions. NRH purchases drinking water from Fort Worth Water and the Trinity River Authority. Last week, Fort Worth Water reported a new record of more than 381 million gallons used in a single day. They indicate that the lakes that supply our water are currently at around 85% of capacity. When lake levels reach 75%, Stage 1 of the Drought/Emergency Water Use Plan will be triggered. If the drought persists, they estimate Stage 1 could be triggered by early October.

Thank You Team NRH

If you haven’t been keeping track, we’re at 33 triple-digit days and counting so far this summer! When it comes to braving the extreme heat, our City of NRH team has endured while serving our great community. We want to say a big “THANK YOU” to the staff who day-after-100-degree day, hit the streets, parks, businesses, and neighborhoods—all with a smile on their faces and the mission to take care of NRH.

A big shout-out goes to these departments in particular: Parks Maintenance, Public Works, Fire, Police (staff and volunteers), Water Services, Fleet Services, Animal Services, Building Inspections, Code Compliance, Facilities, Iron Horse Golf Course, Richland Tennis Center, NRH2O, and the team at Republic Waste. We appreciate all that they do—and even though they’re sweaty we think they are pretty COOL!
Volunteer Opportunity for Teens

Northeast Tarrant Teen Court (NETTC) is seeking middle and high school-aged volunteers to serve as jurors and teen attorneys. No prior experience is required. Volunteers learn about courtroom procedures and the judicial system. They are mentored by court staff, attorneys and judges, while gaining valuable public speaking skills, self-confidence and leadership skills.
Volunteers earn community service hours and are eligible to apply for a Teen Court scholarship when graduating high school. NETTC takes place at the North Richland Hills Municipal Court on Monday evenings two to three times per month. The program serves the cities of North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Haltom City and Watauga. For more information about volunteering, please contact NETTC at nettc@nrhtx.com or 817-427-6705.
