Weekly Summary

  • The Fire Commission met on August 26 and approved the successful completion of the probationary periods of Firefighter/Paramedics Kenneth Llamas and Steven Tippel. Congratulations!
  • Members of North Shore Professional Firefighters Local 1440 will be out in the community this coming weekend collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Thank you to Firefighter/Paramedic Cal Chapman for all your work in organizing this effort!
  • The Whitefish Bay Village Board approved the use of temporary living quarters for Fire Station 84 in Whitefish Bay during Phase 2 of the fire station remodel project.
  • Representatives of the Department and North Shore Professional Firefighters Local 1440 met on Monday August 26 to begin contract negotiations for a successor labor agreement that expires at the end of 2019.
  • Chief Officers and Company Officers met this week for 3rd Quarter Company Officer Meetings. Items of mutual concern were discussed and the group reviewed several administrative and operational issues.
  • Thank you to Safe Kids of Wisconsin's Lisa Klindt Simpson for nominating North Shore Fire/Rescue and North Shore Health Department for the Child Protective Safety Hero Award. During the Governor's Conference the two Departments were picked for the CPS Hero Award Stipend! This $250 stipend can be used to purchase Child Passenger Safety related supplies for our car seat installation program.
  • The Department responded to a garage fire at 4322 N Wildwood Ave in Shorewood on August 23.
  • An area of the roof of the Milwaukee Jewish Day School collapsed on August 23. No one was injured. The building was only occupied by a few staff members at the time of collapse.
